REQUEST A QUOTE FOR SEA SHIPPING

Sea transport represents the most commonly used shipping method, thanks to its large loading capacities and extremely competitive prices. Indeed, the majority of sea shipments move goods in containers, each of which has the ability to accommodate large quantities of merchandise. Like any type of cargo movement, international sea shipments must adhere to specific legal, commercial, customs, and insurance aspects. CSW takes care of all the bureaucratic aspects related to transportation and offers detailed consultation both in terms of tax and documentation.

We can handle all types of maritime transport, including out-of-gauge goods, perishable goods, those requiring controlled temperature transport, fragile goods, and dangerous goods. We guarantee a sea freight service with regular departures, transshipment and direct services, placement of containers of all types, foreign-to-foreign trade shipping, and cargo stuffing and lashing operations. Depending on your needs, the type of cargo, and the destination route, CSW selects the best sea transport for you in terms of timing and safety.

We organize sea shipments both Full Container Load (FCL) and Less than Container Load (LCL), offering you a suitable solution for either full-scale maritime transport or groupage transport.

Full Container Load (FCL) Maritime Transport

The term FCLFull Container Load - literally means full load, but this does not exclusively indicate a shipment capable of completely filling a container. In most cases, this mode of shipment instead refers to the loading of a transportation vehicle - with goods destined for one or more customers - by a single supplying company at the point of origin. There are cases where it is advisable to prefer this mode of transport over Less than Container Load.

Less than Container Load (LCL) Maritime Transport

The term LCLLess than Container Load or groupage load - refers to all situations where a container is loaded with merchandise from different owners. The transport cost is calculated based on the weight and volume of the goods, and the space they occupy inside the container. This mode usually involves transfers whose volume is not sufficient to occupy an entire cargo unit. LCL transport requires waiting for the complete loading of the container by the various exporters, and therefore has longer lead times compared to FCL transport.

CSW helps you identify the best solution for your sea shipment, indicating the type of container most suitable for your needs.
The containers to choose from are as follows:

STANDARD CONTAINERS: 20' BOX container (20 feet), 40' BOX container (40 feet), and 40' High Cube - HC container (distinguished from the 40' BOX by an additional 30 cm in height).

SPECIAL CONTAINERS: Open Top (20 and 40 feet, with a hard top replaced by a tarpaulin, allowing for the loading of goods taller than a standard container), Flat Track (20 and 40 feet, with a front and rear gate making them suitable for out-of-gauge cargo), Reefer (20 and 40 feet, and in a 40 feet High Cube version, allowing for controlled temperature maintenance), Isotank (insulated tanks for transporting hazardous liquids), and SOC (Shipped Owned Container, owned by the shipper).

THE PROS AND CONS OF MARITIME TRANSPORT
Sea freight is cheaper than air freight and subject to fewer restrictions, and cargo ships guarantee the highest absolute cargo capacity. The downsides of maritime shipments include longer lead times, exposure to risks - on certain routes - both for the cargo and the crew, and the possibility - especially in LCL shipments - of the goods suffering damage due to proximity to other types of shipments.

CSW Italia stands by your side in international shipments, providing you with a highly qualified team, and assisting you in finding the ideal solution for your transport needs.
